Ghee Cake – A cake that will melt into your mouth and the aroma of Ghee , it’s a cake with a phenomenal taste !!! Those who have tasted atleast once agree to this,Right?? It is available only in few bakeries across Kerala..No idea about other states of our country. I tasted this for the first time when my friend Greeshma got it from Supreme bakery her hometown, Kollam.I loved it so much that I wanted to try it out sometime.When searched on Internet, no authentic recipe was found..So for the first time in my life, I concocted a cake recipe.Ghee Cake is soft and spongy with ghee flavour .Check out the recipe
Recipe for Ghee Cake
Maida-1 1/4 cups
Baking powder- 2 tsp
Milk- 1/3 cup
Powdered Sugar- 1/2 cup
Ghee- 100 g+ 4 tbsp
Vanilla extract- 1tsp
Method of Preparation
Sieve maida and baking powder together atleast 3 times and reserve.
Seperate egg yolks from whites. Beat yolks well and add in powdered sugar and 100 g ghee.add Milk and whisk well. Now fold in Flour mix .( Never add all the flour at once, add 1/3 rd at a time) .
Now beat egg whites till peaks are formed and fold in this whites to the cake mix prepared.
Prepare a cake tin by dusting flour in tin after spreading oil in the tin.
In a pre-heated oven bake the cake for 35- 40 minutes at 200° C.As soon as the cake is ready while the cake is still hot pour 4 tbsp ghee over the cake.Now the cake is ready to be served.
Ghee cake slices are indeed tempting ,Right?? These are so delicious that I was drooling over these and couldn’t stop with a single slice but gobbled up three in a row.I may not prepare this again just because I don’t want to gain more weight 🙁 🙁 And you needn’t be a professional baker to concoct a cake recipe!!!
