Naadan Mutton Curry

Naadan Mutton curry is that simple comfort food  which you can pair up with rotis/chapathis/rice and make your meal such wonderful experience.The curry is so very addictive that you go back to this recipe even when you want to try out innovative recipes.

In the traditional style of cooking it is always best to use pearl onions/cheriya ulli rather than regular Onions . Do try this Mallu style curry and hope you would enjoy……..

Recipe for Naadan Mutton Curry

Ingredients required

Red pearl onion/Cheriya ulli – 150 g(crushed)

Mutton (cut into small pieces) – 500 g

Ginger – 1 inch 2 pieces

Garlic – 13-15 cloves

Garam masala powder – ½ tsp

Coriander powder –  2 tbsp

Red Chilli powder – 1 tbsp+1/2 tbsp

Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp

Fennel powder – ½ tsp

Curry leaves – 2-3 sprigs

Coconut oil – 1 tbsp

Salt- As per taste

Method of Preparation

Mix all ingredients reserving ½ tbsp chilli powder together in the earthen pot/mannchatti with hand.

Let it cook in high flame for around 15 minutes and then simmer for half an hour .

Now add ½ tbsp red chilli powder and mix with coconut oil to make a paste.

Add this paste to the simmering curry and let it cook for another 15-20 minutes till the meat turns tender and till you see the oil spreading over the top.

Such an easy curry to prepare, Right??It tastes as good as it looks. Do try it and it will never disappoint you………………

Note: After adding the red chilli paste the cooking time may vary and keep a regular check to get that rightly tender,juicy and succulent meat.
