Recipe for beef varuthu podichadu
Ingredients required
Beef- Cut into cubes(Half kg) Shallots/Cheriya ulli/Red onions-sliced(Half a cup)
Crushed red chilli- 3 tbsp
Fennels-1 tsp
Curry leaves-3-4 sprigs
Coconut oil- For frying(You can use refined oil also)
Salt-As per requirementFor the marinade
Red chilli powder-1 tbsp
Turmeric powder-Half tbsp
Black pepper powder-1 tsp
Garlic paste- 1 tbsp
Garam masala-1 tsp
Salt-As per requirement
Method of Preparation
Clean Beef pieces and reserve.
Make a paste with the ingredients required for marination. Marinate beef pieces for atleast one hour. Deep fry beef and strain beef pieces from oil.
In a saucepan heat 3-4 tbsp oil(I prefer coconut oil, you can use any refined oil) and saute onions till it turns translucent.
Add in crushed red chillies and saute for a minute.
Now add in beef ,garam masala, fennels,curry leaves and salt(Salt is already added to fry beef, so add accordingly).
Saute till it turns dark brown in colour (shallots should also be fried nicely to increase storage time).
Fried Beef Preserve is ready to be served.
