FISH MOLLY

Fish Molly is Kerala’s very own fish recipe . It is virtually  loved by all fish-eating malayalees….The combination of appam and fish molly is out of the world. Check out the recipe

Recipe for Fish Molly

Ingredients required

Seer fish/King fish/Neymeen/aiyakoora- 7-8 pieces(medium sized)

Mustard seeds- 1 tsp

Onion- 2 medium sized(sliced)

Ginger- 2 tsp(chopped)

Garlic- 2 tbsp(chopped)

Tomato- 2 medium sized(sliced)

Garam masala- 1/4 tsp

Pepper powder- 1/2 tsp

Thick coconut milk- 3/4 cup

Thin coconut milk- 1 cup

Green chillies- 3 no.s(slit into two)

Curry leaves- 4-5 sprigs

Coconut oil- 50 g(We Mallus love the taste of Coconut oil….You can use other oils if you don’t like the taste of coconut oil)

Lemon juice- 1/2 tbsp

Salt- As per requirement

Method of Preparation

Marinate fish pieces with lemon juice and salt .

Reserve these pieces.

Heat oil in a saucepan.Put mustard seeds and let it jump around.

Add garlic and ginger and saute for 2 minutes.

Add sliced onions , curry leaves and green chillies. Continue saute till onions turn translucent. Add thin coconut milk.

When it roll boils add fish pieces,tomatoes , pepper powder, garam masala. Let it boil well and then add salt .

Finally add in thick coconut milk and let it simmer for  another 5 minutes. Now get ready for the delicious treat.
